Preparation :
Prior to starting there must be a clean and dust free workspace. The temperature must be high and the climate controlled for the finish to properly cure.
Seal Coat :
The first coat is to seal the wood. This coat is typically poured and brushed on. This will get into the grain and pits to seal up all of the pores.
Flood Coat :
The remaining coats are poured onto the surface. A tool is used to help spread the liquid. As many of these coats can be poured as needed to reach the desired depth. A few coats will give the wood a smooth and durable finish that is going to last the test of time.
- All quality epoxies are a 2 part mixture. One is a resin and the other is a hardener. It is very important that it's exactly a 50/50 measurement before mixing. Not having an exact measurement can cause many issues.
- Most products are only mixed for a total of 3 - 5 minutes. Any longer and air bubbles will appear because the mixture has begun to set up.
- It is vital to have a work space above 75 degrees. The warmer the room the easier it makes it for the bubbles to rise and release giving the clearest results.
